Started by taking my youngest to the school bus stop while wearing skinny black jeans and light blue tee shirt before returning home for a shave, quick change in to my swimming gear and getting to the pools by 8 am. Middle daughter then organised a 1 pm nail appointment so I had to change back to man mode for that. This morning, finally made it back to the pools, got 18 lengths in (450 meters) after several weeks of no exercises, followed by 10 minutes in the spa and 10 in the steam room. Got back home with the meds, to find a strange male sleeping in my den. So I did a basic search of my local shopping center and wasn’t overly surprised not to find the harness I wanted so had a coffee and cake instead. Morning Coffee at Sylvia Park & evening coffee at a Coffee Club. Today, Sunday, one of the girls has a sore throat, so had to do a morning trip to the emergency chemist (regular chemist is shut as only hot food outlets and service stations are allowed to be open today). My oldest girl (nearing 19) has decided to move out, it’s a really exciting time for her, with University starting today (Monday 28th), checking out inner city flats etc. It will probably mean I can’t borrow her leopard print tights, her black mini and a few other nice tops.
The photography is amazing – the Milky Way reflected in salt flats in Bolivia, the honey hunters ascending dizzying ladders in Nepal, bioluminescence in a bay in starlit Puerto Rico. As I left the shop a beautiful young woman walked passed and we smiled to each other, personally I would have loved to have invited her home, but being very happily married I continued on my way. Well, I suppose I’ve had various hobbies as I’ve grown up, for example when I was a young girl I used to love playing soccer, but then when I was a bit older I spent more of my free time practicing karate, which I really loved, and then I got into mountain biking – but I guess my hobby has always been physical exercise in general – if you can call that a hobby, I think you can. As I said, I’ve always been physically active in one form or another, whether it was running, swimming or one of the activities I mentioned before. Swimming is one of the best exercises because you not only get a good work out, but there is a spiritual release there that you find in few other activities (except maybe Yoga.) When you are floating on top of a pool, letting the bottom slowly float by underneath, you can truly feel free.

So many thanks to Wet ‘n Wild rafting company in Rotorua for making my birthday so good. For those that don’t know, Rotorua is a geothermal area, and a bit of an adventure play ground for people who live in the North Island of New Zealand, just 2 & 1/2 hours drive from Auckland, or about 30 minutes from Lord of the Rings “Hobbiton”. I looked at Supre and a few other clothes shops, but I’m a bit broke (cashless) for the next 4 weeks. The place also has 2 outdoor swimming pools, shops, and restaurant. The place has luxury suites, villas and cottages perfectly designed to match the natural views of Samal Island.
On the other side of the Boracay island is the Bulabog beach which is very good for wind surfing and kite surfing. Do you think that surfing the internet, watching TV, keeping a pet or listening to music are interesting hobbies? Grimy swimming water.
