A toast to true gems at the finale of India International Jewellery Week

The excitement of bling and bigwigs finally came to a grand end on Day 5 of the India International Jewellery Week.In a fitting finale to the fourth edition of the event, held at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai, actors Sonam Kapoor and Chitrangada Singh walked the ramp flaunting some of the best looks of the past week.

And as if star power wasn’t enough, couturier JJ Valaya added an extra edge of glamour with his latest range of formal ethnic wear that featured sari, lehengas and kurti combos. Two shows were held on the last day, showcasing one key look from each participating jewellery brand.

Style icon Sonam was the showstopper for the first show and looked elegant and fresh in a textured orange crepe sari and sleeveless blouse teamed with a diamond, emerald, pearl and gold necklace and baju bandh.She wore her hair partly pinned up with the remaining tresses cascading down her shoulders. She added to the glam hair-do with a massive maang tikka and earrings set in gold and emeralds. Completing the look were a gold floral bracelet and bracelet ring.

The other cynosure of the evening was diva Chitrangada Singh, who walked the ramp in a maroon off-shoulder gown paired with a huge polki raani haar, earrings and cuffs. While the Rajasthani beauty looked charismatic as always with her high cheek bones and characteristic bangs, the red embroidered tulle dress didn’t do her justice.

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, wearing a royal kalgi brooch on a patterned sherwani teamed with a gold pocket square and white pants, was the showstopper for the men’s collection.
